The Teluk Aur village, Empangau village and Empangau Lake are located in the Bunut Hilir sub-district in the west of Kapuas Hulu.  These spots are only accessible by boat!

Sungai Ulu’ Palin is one of the oldest and certainly one of the tallest long house in Kapuas Hulu. It is located at the Upper Palin River roughly 37 km northwest of Putussibau. The impressive long house is truly a highlight and the friendly inhabitants of Sungai Ulu’ Palin, who belong to the Embaloh Dayak tribe are always happy to welcome visitors. Sungai Utik is located in the north-west of Kapuas Hulu, roughly 75 km away from Putussibau. The longhouse of Sungai Utik is relatively old and quite big with large porches inside and outside. The inhabitants of Sungai Utik belong to the Iban tribe. An important fact about Sungai Utik is that the inhabitants preserve their forest and they do not have any ambitions to change this. They live with and in their environment without destroying it. In 2008 they received the Sus­tain­able For­est Man­age­ment Cer­ti­fi­ca­tion for Kam­pung Sun­gai Utik com­mu­nity. More…

Forest at Sadap, afternoon

Sadap is located in Embaloh Hulu, in the north-west of Kapuas Hulu (roughly 95 km away from Putussibau). The longhouse of Sadap is situated at the Embaloh River that has its origin in the north-west of the Betung Kerihun national park. The people of Sadap belong to the Iban tribe.

Close to the protection forest and to the Betung Kerihun further north, Sadap is indeed a good starting point to explore the rainforest. More…

Lanjak, a small village in Kapuas Hulu, is certainly blessed with its location, as it situated at the north-east edge of the Danau Sentarum national park – in the west, north-west of Putussibau – and in its “back” there is Lanjak hill (or Bukit Lanjak), from where you have a great view over the Danau Sentarum.
In Lanjak is also a park-office of the Danau Sentarum national park management, where you can obtain and pay the permit, in order to enter the park. More…
